I got one of these, and it's lovely off the fairway or even semi rough, goes like a dream and can even shape it. Very solid feel, but very easy to hit.

Thanks for all the great content Rick. Never realized how much flak people try to give you for putting out free content that is a choice to watch. I know I keep a lookout every hour I'm awake for new stuff from you Pete Andy and Matt cause I always take a little here and a little there to try and up my game and it's working so far. So just wanted to say thanks!

Bought one of these a few months ago, absolutely love it! Such a great club. Those shafts are brilliant also, Got mine in Stiff but was so easy to generate a high swing speed. Easy to hit off the deck.

As bad of a hit as that last shot off the deck was (so toe side) and yet it flew straight and long.. it should be lighting your fire.

Great review Rick.. glad I watched this. I used to play the Steelhead Plus and was thinking about switching to this 3 metal next year over the Epic subzero 3 metal but after watching this you validated the Epic is much better. I’ll stick with my Epic fairway metals.

I am a very average golfer sitting now at a 10 hdcp. I tried the steel head 3 hybrid and I couldn't hit it straight or to the right. It was left of left every time. It had good distance but ridiculous draw/hook every time.

I don't figure there is anyway for the new steelhead to be as good as the epic 3 wood I just bought a month ago. It's the best driver and 3 wood I have ever hit period.

Hey Rick.. I can't hit my fairways off a tee.. if I need to use one off the box I find a fluffy piece of grass and hit it off the deck.. much more consistent for me anyway. Just some input from a random =)

I have a quick equipment question. A friend is trying to flog me his 25* hybrid saying it will replace my 3i but I'm not sure if his being serious. Seems bit odd whats a closer angle to replace a 3i? Or can I just close the face on the 25* and it be same same?

It would good if Rick could put some cameras at the back of the range and see real ball flight and landing. I wonder if this club encourages a draw, Rick didn't point it out verbally but was letting you see for yourself

You should get your hands on an old steel head to compare them

Edit
Hah, I made this comment before the end of the video... The old steel head 3+ was my go to as well, back in my teens/early twenties. It definitely does have a more metallic "ping" when you hit it. In the bag I have at my parents house, I STILL have a steel head plus 5w - love it as well.
Joel Peart

Not sure why he grabbed a 3+. Rick's never had a very high ball flight. Loft equals accuracy. Hitting a 3 wood 280 into the shit is not quite the idea of a fairway metal.

Im slightly worried with my game. Having just seen rick who is a PGA professional golf coach hit his 3 wood left or right and none down the middle, am I doing something wrong if I hit my 3 wood straight with no hook? Im always on the fairways but rick is the PGA pro here and Im questioning whether I should get help to hit the ball left or right like rick, because apparently hitting the ball straight isn't what rick is advocating from this video.
Vishal Pindoria
Vishal Pindoria - 3 years ago
Isak Larsson you probably some kid who dream about being a pro you might hit straight but doesn't mean it goes far. You never mentioned about how far you hit since Yu know your golf game is shit. Sort out you ego and values in life. Putting down people isn't gonna make you golf game any better. It might make You might be happy but your point that you stated Is ridiculous. You probably never played golf In your life because you really don't know what a fade or draw. Don't you ever comment shit about rick because you ain't better. Hope this pissed you off and have a good day.

Just keep doing what you're doing because hitting the ball straight is better than hitting a draw or a slice
golfbuddy1969
golfbuddy1969 - 3 years ago
I too, enjoy hitting it straight, and usually do. But many want to turn it over, or draw a 3/5 wood. It also may be because the shaft is a little too soft for his swing.

Obviously you are being facetious but I'll give a serious answer anyway. The size of the grouping rather than the natural movement of the ball is what's most important. If you can hit a consistent draw or fade and keep a tight grouping, you are likely going to score low. If you can hit both, you are an excellent golfer. I'd take the grouping of Rob's 4 draws any day of the week if I was hitting a 3 wood 260-280. If you can hit the ball that far and in that tight of a grouping and hit it straight then congratulations and I'll see you on tour.

I've got the callaway XR woods (3&5) in the bag and can hit them with easy and a dead straight flight (which is awesome). Do you think these would be a nice upgrade.. The only problem which ive got with the xr's is that they climb too much nowadays since i swing faster..

your AoA with the ball on the ground was averaging 0.5 upwards, no wonder it was going left on you. change that AoA to 1 or 2 degress down and it'll stop going left on you, just saying.
tmajik86
tmajik86 - 3 years ago
hitting up is a leftward swing direction meaning the path is going left, with a face thats square or slightly closed this will lead to a ballflight that alawys starts straight to left and curves away from the target left. check out his impact conditions at 6:36. out to in, hitting up .5 up with a closed face. left everytime.
Nick Cormier
Nick Cormier - 3 years ago
But also likely more backspin or lower launch if DL changes with AoA... how will this lead to same distance with less left? I don't understand your logic.
