Just got fitted for them yesterday. Easily the best feeling club I have ever hit. I usually hit a 7i 150 ish. I was hitting it 170 with five yards higher ball flight. They are insanely forgiving as I lost very little distance on toe strikes. Ordered a 5-PW. Also ordered G400 driver, 3W and hybrid, a set of Glide 2.0 stealths and a Doon putter.

Thanks for the great review...look forward to an on course review and perhaps try it with a mid/high handicap golfer! Aloha

Thank you...perhaps Andrew will pull a high handicapper around the course for a more extended review.

Swing Away I am a high handicapper. Hit them yesterday. The best feeling, highest flying and longest irons I have ever hit. Gained about 7 yds on a 7i abs averaged about 5 yards higher ball flight. Waiting for a 5-PW, G400 driver, 3w and 4h as a Doon putter to come in in about two weeks!

Finally you have them. I cant wait until they come to our retail shops I'm a low ball hitter and i need help to get it in the air and it looks like that club does the trick

£1000 for a set irons is a huge amount of money, I know my pockets aren’t deep enough for these, so I think I’ll stick with 10 years old my Mizuno MP32as I know they will still be around in another 10years, I can’t see these being around that long.
On a side note, how much extra does the new callaway ball add? I hope when you review the ball you compare it to a range of balls from other premium balls to budget e.g. Pro V1 to donnay budget.

Hi Christopher, thanks for taking time to post a comment. I agree with you that 1K is a lot of money, I suppose if you break the cost down over a 10 year period it makes for better reading. Will try and answer your questions regarding the new Callaway ball soon. Best regards Andrew.

I really want to try this club. I currently game the Callaway Big Bertha hollow body irons. Can't wait to compare the two, especially in forgiveness and accuracy.

Great review Andrew, they look soperb, but,do you think they would be as forgiving as my Ping G400s.
Keep up the great work.

Why are Ping copying TM with their irons lately ? first the i 200 looked like the TM Rac's
& now the G 700 look like TM P.790 Come on Ping you're better than that.

Aestheticly copied

Hi Joe, not entirely sure that Ping are copying anything that TaylorMade do. They are a engineering company who make great clubs for specific reasons. I agree that the i200 does look similar to the Rac Iron but the performance is so much better. Always good to hear your views and thoughts though. All the best Andrew.

I agree with Ed Mc. The front to back dispersion seems to be too high.

Trouble is, Andrew, the front to back dispersion is too great. I don’t care how far they go as long as they are consistent and these would appear, like many others, to be inconsistent.
Andrew Ainsworth
Andrew Ainsworth - 2 years ago
Hi Tony, dispersion number on distance I think are more down to my strike. If I was consistently hitting middle with same speed, launch etc am sure you would see good steady numbers. Appreciate your views and opinions though. All the best Andrew.

Very nice review, would love to see you out on the course to hit these irons into some greens to see how they perform as well

Always good reviews Andrew only thing I worry about is inconsistent distance one that flies 10 yards or more farther than you intend.
Andrew Ainsworth
Andrew Ainsworth - 2 years ago
Good point Ed, with a face as hot as this there is always the possibility that you may get a long one. Worth remembering that Ping have designed this club as a game improver so the golfer who flys it 10 yards further may not be to worried. All the best Andrew.

Could the longer irons be blended into the i200's? I'm using 5 iron through to u wedge.
Keep up the good work!!

Hi Iain, they could would just have to keep a eye on the gapping. A good fitter can advise on this. Brilliant Irons, so easy to hit and long !!!!!.
