Would love to see you test a 910D2 against something more modern - I still game that driver and recently compared it on trackman to a TS3. 910D2 came out on top which was a surprise to me

one of the longest drivers i've played with uses a 907D2. he's pretty bad with all the other clubs but hits these ridiculous low bombs that have just the right anount of spin to curve upwards or fall out of the sky.

Hmm, OK. Here goes: "Cult" drivers (the L4V and the 9015D have their own mega threads on Golfwrx): Orlimar HipTi 420; Adams 9015D; Cobra L4V X speed; Adams Fast 12 LS; Bridgestone J33R; Cleveland Launcher Comp; Wishon 919THI; KZG VC420; SMT DB455; Nakashima NP1; Bangomatic 460; Geek DCT; Krank Rage; Krank Formula X or XX; Nickent 4DX Evolver; original Ping Rapture (not the V2); Snake Eyes 600 or 650; Knuth High Heat; Zevo or Snake Eyes Compressors (forerunners of jailbreak tech). Any current offerings by Lynx, Benross or MD Golf eg Lynx Black Cat. JDM cult drivers: Ryoma D1; S-Yard T388; JBeam FX BM 435; Onoff 358. Know you're only after driver suggestions but have to drop the following - Fairway woods: the original Orlimar Trimetal low profile fairways; Tour Edge CB2 or CB4; Sonartec fairways. Hybrids: Sonartec MD hybrids. Irons: Maxfli Revolution Black dots. Good luck with that!

Oh forgot. The Makser driver that most of the Euro Ryder Cup Team were using in one match in the 90s; MacGregor MT 460 (red sole) that Greg Norman used in his run to 2nd place in the 2008 Open; the Alpha C830.2 Plasma; Tiger Woods King Cobra driver from the 1997 Masters; John Daly's Cobra Ultramid from his USPGA Major; Freddie Couples metal headed Lynx Boom Boom from the 90s.

If people want to waste their money on "stuff" then sell them "stuff". Some people get more enjoyment out of buying things than actually using them. No different than buying a high performance sports car to sit in traffic on the way to work. Not my thing, but to each his own.

Mark, I play the 907 and have done for 8 years. I hit it straight and average 250. Looking to upgrade to a new driver and wondered what you might suggest that would have a similar feel and maybe a little mor distance. I'm a 15 HC.

Another great vid. Ok here goes, my last attempt at recommending a club. And given your equipment partnership this shouldn’t be too difficult to obtain. Please (PLEASE) can you test a Srixon W506, available in the early 2000s. I owned two and still have one of them. Shafted admittedly with a UST V2 shaft, it’s still one of the longest drivers I’ve ever owned. So Mark, Srixon W506..... please

Hi Mark. If you fancy an interesting test, I'd love to see you try the Cleveland HiBore XLS. It was my first standalone driver purchase (after a budget boxset) and cost me about £30. It had a really interesting head shape with a huge stepped face/body, and easily the loudest driver I hit (and I mean loud! Turning heads at the range for sure!)

Interested to see you test something a little unusual

Mark I read an article several years back that said the 905T Titleist was still one of their hottest faces ever and that it stacked up against the 913 and 915 at the time. But I find that pretty hard to believe. Maybe see if you can debunk that theory, a 905 should be fairly cheap.

Really enjoying all your old driver reviews. I refuse to pay £100's for the new fad so try to use good quality 2nd hand ones. Would be grateful if you could review Titleist 905R and the Ping Rapture V2 - which is best for an 18 handicapper?

Another good video Mark, good job.

Can you do a test of the Callaway x hot driver against the rogue/mavrik please.

I started playing in '13 and had the x hot as my first set, just replaced it with mavrik irons and rogue driver/wood/hybrid.

I'm noticing a good gain in distance but largely due to a straighter flight (have changed from 10.5 to 9 degree). However, I've had some swing changes with my driver in particular so it is hard to see what impact the equipment is having v a better technique.

Cheers

I literally just picked one of these up locally for $40 (Aussie dollars) with a 76 gram stiff Proforce V2. It is straight and pretty long when hit well. I think a lot of Titleist snobs turn their nose up at this model but I quite like it. It's a good hidden buy. A friend had a 907D1 back in the day and that was also a really easy to hit driver which is even more forgiving. Good review Mark.

Of course you would sell them another one if that is your living, you have told them that in your opinion changing driver every 3 or 4 months is not the way to improve their game, it’s not your fault if they choose to ignore the advice. Money would be better spent having a series of lessons but at the end of the day, the customer is always right, or not!
